Plug ethernet cable into computer error.
Urgent help would be greatly appreciated.
Plug in ethernet causes computer crash you are welcome i am happy to hear that my solution helped to fix your problem.
Also unplug the ethernet cable.
I looked in network and it says that the ethernet cable is unplugged and does not show any available networks.
Wifi works fine with phones ipods ipads and another laptop that was also updated to windows 10 a desktop still using windows 8.
It is a pretty ridiculous problem so i am glad i could save someone the time of troubleshooting their computer over something so simple.
This port is usually on the back of a desktop computer or on the side of a laptop.
Usually there is a light that comes on when i plug my ethernet cable into my laptop but it won t trigger the light either.
If that fixes the problem you ve got a defective router.
I have plugged the router up to a different computer and my xbox and it works that way.
As long as you don t need all of your ports you can get by.
An ethernet port on a computer is accessible through the ethernet card on the motherboard.
On troubleshooting it s says that an ethernet cable is broken or not plugged in properly and is unable to fix the problem as obviously i am not connected via any cable.
Wait for good 15 minutes.
One end is connected to your computer and the other is connected to the main network device probably a router.
Turn off your computer and remove the power cable from it.
The wifi will pick up just fine i would just rather have an ethernet connection.
Instead of buying a new one outright plug the same cable into a different computer or temporarily swap out the ethernet cable for a known good one.
So my wifi connection will not work with my laptop unless directly connected to by the ethernet cable.
If that doesn t fix it plug the cable into another port on the router.
But once i plug it into my laptop there is nothing.
Connect the cable and battery to your computer and turn it on.
If you are using a laptop remove its battery too.
